We all have had to sit and experience "death by powerpoint" at some times in our military career. I have had obligatory trainings that I attend and try hard to pay close attention to, but a few of them were very difficult for me to retain. On the other hand, some leadership courses - even in a classroom, are very helpful to me. The ASIST training is very useful for me in my field.

What about you? What was your favorite classroom course and what was your least favorite? How can we improve classroom training?

Best- Infantry Mortar Leaders Course- The classroom portion of advanced fire direction procedures was almost entirely hands-on instruction that required quick thinking, problem solving, and attention to detail.
Worst- Army Recruiting Course- boring classes on making telephone sales calls to high school kids.

I have yet to be impressed with the MRT modules, regardless of the instructor.

I've had some good MRT courses. It's helps if you take the direction of the content and shape it with the classroom's thoughts.

I hope to become MRT certified as I progress in the ranks, it's an additional duty that speaks to me.

I am glad that you are getting something out of it SGT(P) (Join to see) . Perhaps my disappointment stems from how it has been treated in my reserve units so far. Kind of a check-the-block.

I agree completely sir. I've had some very useful and engaging SHARP training. I've also had training that essentially consisted of "rape is wrong" and "all men are predators" being repeated over and over.

We got a SHARP briefing each two weeks at a minimum in Afghanistan. It was ridiculous

Sir, thank you. Whenever I raise my voice about SHARP, I'm shot down. It's not PC to criticize the program.

sharp training is a total waste of my time and it takes more of my time that it should. I want to work in my mos not in a class room.
