Should RallyPoint add an awards section to the profile for both military & civilian members?

Should RallyPoint Web designer consider adding a Section in the Profile for Military Awards for both military personnel and civilian personnel?
Do you think RP members will be honest for the most part and only add those they actually received?
(or)
Do you think some RP members will add awards they didn't actually receive?
(or)
Do you think there is no need for another "love me" section on the profile?

I certainly believe that the vast majority of RallyPoint members are honest. I concur with @Capt Seid Waddell that since RallyPoint has access to verify that we have received one or more DD-214s [I have 3 DD-214-1978, 1992, and 2004].

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint - I believe RallyPoint has a relationship with DoD which enables them to confirm military service without gaining access to actually view the DD214's each of us received who are veterans.
I am not familiar with the documentation for non-military government service but I would be surprised if there was not documentation which conforms government service - besides pay statements.

LTC Stephen F. - Interesting. As an intell guy I am unsure of it. I retired in 2014. I would be interested in learning about it. There might be some use for it when CPAC is screening during the hiring process.

I suggested this over a year ago but don't think it is on the RallyPoint Teams list of improvements.

The more suggestions we give RallyPoint the better user experience you will have! One thing I would like to see added is a ribbon rack to display your awards on your profile as well as a way to display your special skill badges. Currently the only thing you can display is your rank, unit patches, and deployments.

I support adding the awards however it does nothing to help members transitioning from the service and really means nothing to employers looking at hiring rally point members. I don't think this feature will be added anytime soon.

The awards are easily enough vetted against a DD-214 or other records accessible by a Personnel clerk. Yes, some will lie, and stolen Valor will tear them apart, most will not.

CW2 Joseph Evans thanks for your input. I have to agree with you on your point about the stolen valor! I believe for the most part that there are a lot of great veterans and active members that will do the right thing. There are a lot of individuals that I've invited as well as others that know each other personally, so it just comes down to integrity. We'll wait and see even if they add it in the future.

I was stationed at a NATO site in West Germany (1969-1971) for two and a half years
and you will not see anything I did there on my DD-214. All my activity along with my
brothers in arms at that NATO site were marked by the U.S. Army as a "Classified Mission". As for "stolen valor"none of us were ever recognized by the army for having any valor. We just had to pass background checks for our security clearances.
The DD-214 does not always have the complete information on a veteran.

I am not concerned with what the salad bowl has in it. I know mine and to me that is all that matters.

I don't see a need for this. My awards are in the three places they should be: a box in my closet, my 214, and my resume.

The trend lately is to have "I LOVE ME" stuff everywhere. I served and while I like when I busted butt and was awarded medals, they were not the reason I was in. I say leave them off. We know what we did, good and bad.

I think I may have about 5 medals earned. No biggie, doesn't make a difference and it certainly wouldn't make me feel better about myself than I already do. We served, like the t.v. show once said ( Will Sonnet I believe ) No brag. Just fact. I did it, I survived, I cash my disability check every month. Life goes on.

I didn't click the vote button because my category isn't there. I say no because I have a feeling it will turn into sharpshooting or "hating". I think people will be honest about their awards but that may cause problems too. What did you do to get that? or I didn't get a XXXXX because my rank. If RP does this I will not be honest. I will leave mine out.

Some veterans will have that attitude of "I have more service ribbons than you".
I have seen that attitude in person and it will divide veterans into different groups.
My military service was more important than yours or I held a higher rank than you.
I have seen veterans with this attitude. I can say that this attitude is NOT present on
RallyPoint among the members who post comments on this site. I hope it stays that way.
