Thanks for reminding us SP5 Mark Kuzinski that one of the first U.S. ground units sent to Vietnam the U.S. 173rd Airborne Brigade ceased combat operations and prepared to redeploy to the United States in 1971 as part of Nixon’s troop withdrawal plan.
Vietnamization may well have worked if we had been more patient and ensured the South Vietnamese Armed Forces was ready and adequately trained before be exited.
