You're damned right he is. And I'm glad of it. Here's why.
Every candidate in history says what they think needs to be said in order to get into the office. Show me one candidate that ever got there that didn't walk back something he (so far, only he) promised during the campaign, and I'll show you a candidate you made up. Liberals are using this to show how evil Trump is. -I- take it as a sign of hope. Why? Some of his talking points were retarded -- the Mexican wall, for example. If that ever happened it would be the most colossal f-up in government history, on par with the F-35 program. It would cost too much to build and maintain, and it WOULD NOT WORK. He hasn't addressed that one yet post-election yet, but I hope he does.
Liberals should be GLAD that he's backing down off some of the hyperbole and rhetoric. The reality is, very little of any candidate's promises are ever going to take the shape of their original statement, simply because when you get there into the office, you learn about all the reasons you can't actually do the things you might want to in the way you want to. So you adapt. You back down. You start saying 'ok, ok, maybe some parts of Obamacare can stay.'
To me, this is a sign of Trump mellowing out, and realizing how monumental his task is going to be.

The most important promises for President-elect Donald Trump to keep are:
1. Eliminating the health insurance individual mandate so that people are not punished for not having health insurance.
2. Eliminating the requirement for people to purchase insurance from their own state. Competition throughout the insurance industry should drive prices down
3. Restructuring the Obamacare to permit parents to ensure children until 26, get the Federal government out of the health insurance "business," eliminate the regulations which allowed the Federal government to monopolize health care and return the health care industry to competitive healthcare solutions while government maintains oversight of protocols [FDA, etc]
4. Reducing the top rate from business taxes to 15% to stimulate small businesses to hire again
5. End the war on coal and stop subsidizing solar, wind and other "green" energy options. Allow them to compete without special preference.
6. Taking at least $20 Billion from the Department of Education budget and appropriation and distributing that amount as block grants to the states to provide for vouchers for inner city families to actually decide which schools their children should attend.
7. Executing tariffs on any former USA company which moved overseas which has exporting products back to the USA.
8. Deporting the 2,000,00 violent illegal alien felons. If the country refuses to accept them, eliminate visas to and from that nation and hopefully forbid funds transfers to that nation.
9. Re-negotiating or eliminating NAFTA on our terms. Eliminating economic treaties with China until China floats their currency worth to what it should be.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - my Program Director contacted me to let me know that my performance was not an issue.
Since the Affordable Care Act was somewhat unknown in terms of impact [my company had done analysis for the various Federal Government agencies by that point on the ACA].
They did a cost-benefit analysis. The company had refocused. When I was mobilized 2001 to 2004 I was supported when I cam back to work for them. They had been veteran friendly but that shifted in the next decade as they moved aware from a core DoD and Military focus [originally it was an FFRDC created under McNamara] to supporting civil agencies as well and some state governments requirements.
I had primarily supported OSD and Department of the Army as Senior consultant for non-profit policy and analysis company. I worked on site in the Pentagon until my disabilities and the medications made it too difficult. then I worked primarily from home except when classified meetings and discussions were required. The VA covered my health since I was over 80% service-connected disabled. My wife was uninsured until I fully retired from the Army last October.

LTC Stephen F. - I appreciate the background information. It would appear that your termination, while unfortunate, was related to factors beyond the ACA alone. It may have been part of the calculus, but I would think the shift in company focus was at least an equal if not more impacting factor. You obviously have much more first hand information on the situation, so you are in a better position to make the call, but sometimes being too close to a situation can skew perspective.
Either way, I think we have strayed from the original conversation related to campaign promises, which for any politician are merely reflections of hopes and dreams.

2. My program director told me over the phone that it was precisely the implementation of the ACA which was why I was being terminated at the end of June 2013. They could no longer cover me because my health requirements would have cost too much. I am a trained and experienced ORSA and understand the calculus required in a bang per buck process.
3. Businesses across the nation had to do the calculus about what was affordable under the new regulations. Remember that the affordable care act was neither affordable nor universal despite intentions.

LTC Stephen F. - That's fine, I just thought we may be going too deep into your personal situation. I have no doubt that is the reason they gave you, but it doesn't necessarily mean it tells the whole story. When letting someone go, much easier to find a convenient rationale that the person being let go will accept, that way your ire is directed at the excuse given.
One of the reasons the ACA was not as affordable or universal as it might of been is because it was undercut from its inception. Regardless of the benefit it may have provided for the country as a whole, Republicans could afford to have the Democrats have any sort of perceived victory or success on this issue, so instead of trying to make it work better, they undercut it whenever and wherever they could.

One thing If come to think about when it comes to campaign promises is this. Once they start getting read into the real state of the nation only then do they see what can and can not be done. This goes for both sides of the table.

We really know nothing about him, except what he talked about in his speeches. I knew he couldn't do everything he talked about, but I'll bet over 50% of his promises are kept. He's not a slacker and already jumped in head first to get his cabinet members secured. I think once he gets his feet on the ground and knows what he wants to do, he will get it done. He's different from politicians. He's a great businessman and is sharp as a tack. I just hope he doesn't let his mouth overload his ass concerning his promises.

With your constant badgering, you are part of the problems going on, not part of the solution. Unless you and all of the protesters have a crystal ball, you don't have any idea what kind of President he's going to be, or what he's going to do. If I were you, Frank, I would knock it off, quit worrying about something you have no control over, and pray that he's going to be a good leader.
