Thanks for reminding us about Battle of Passchendaele SGT John " Mac " McConnell. At this time a young German officer named Erwin Rommel was conducting brilliant operations in northern Italy. It would have been interesting and perhaps life-changing if the viewpoint of British Prime Minister David Lloyd George had prevailed so that the effort would be shifted to the Italian Front.
Of course the French view prevailed. It is known only to God how many lives would have been saved in France and how many more would be ended in Italy,
Thanks to modern technology and the knowledge gained by analysis over a century, a battle which lasted just over three months and cost the lives of between 460,000 and 975,000 soldiers and God knows how many civilians can be summarized in 2 minutes. Yet it can.
Thanks my friend for sharing.
