Good morning RP. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Stereo Helene." Helene is one of the moons orbiting the planet Saturn, and was discovered on March 1, 1980 through ground based observations. This image was produced from two pictures taken by the Cassini spacecraft in 2011. Even without glasses, the craters and gullies on the surface are clearly visible. Helene occupies an orbital 'Lagrange point' where a lighter third body can sit motionless relative to two heavier bodies that are orbiting each other thanks to the force of gravity. The two heavier objects in this case are Saturn and its moon Dione.

Good Saturday afternoon Maj William W. 'Bill' Price!!! Our Planet Saturn has a huge number of smaller moons and the APOD of Helene is amazing... This image appears to be color enhanced to show more of its features...
