Good Saturday morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs On my way to an event.
Finding a new path can be challenging, invigorating, frightening or all three at once. The exploration and journey will teach us new things if we are open to it. Are you up for a challenge?

I pray that you and I exercise wisdom and discernment before embarking on any completely ‘new’ path, my friend and sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.
I pray that YOU give parents wisdom, grace and endurance as they train up their children. Enable them to give sound advice to their children and the children to pay heed to sound advice especially on issues relating to relationships, studies, and career choices. LORD give each parent listening skills and patience as they communicate with each other and their children. I pray that parents and children love each other through thick and thin and that as the children grow up, they will consider one or both parents a trustworthy source of advice and confidant they can share deep feelings with.
LORD YOU have ordained a specific path for each one of us that includes pauses, shifts in direction and speed, challenging periods, peaceful periods, solitary periods and periods where we are accompanied – as follower, leader and equal.
I pray that YOU bless leaders of government, government agencies, corporations, boards of directors, and small businesses wisdom as they make plans to merge, divest, and make other changes to their directional goals including structure and locations for expansion or consolidation.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good morning my RP Family. It’s going to be another 100+ degree day today. I think my path will lead me to my pool. As I reflect on today’s motivational quotes, I am reminded of the Old Paths mentioned in the Bible, so that is what I intend explore today. I pray that we remember that God has a path for each of us. Will we follow where He wants us to go. I pray we do! Have a blessed day and always!

The Old Paths
E. P. Ingersoll, D. D.
Jeremiah 6:16
Thus said the LORD, Stand you in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein…

I. THE OLD PATHS ARE TO BE DISTINGUISHED FROM THEOLOGICAL CREEDS AND DOGMAS. Lifted upon the shoulders of many generations, with opportunities for interpreting the Bible in the light of a developing Christianity, it would be strange if our horizon had not increased. Think as those men thought — not necessarily what they thought.

II. A RETURN TO THE "OLD PATHS" DOES NOT CALL US AWAY FROM VIGOROUS LIFE. Wherever human thought, in obedience to its best nature, essays to got wherever desire for higher and better things reaches out, there are the paths of the Lord. They are as "the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day." Treading them, "every power finds sweet employ."

III. SOME OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE OLD PATHS.

1. They are plain. True, the fogs sometimes hang low upon them as upon worldly ways; but we can always, in the darkest hour, see one step before us, and that taken, we can see another. The engineer cannot see his track all the way from New York to Albany, but in the heaviest night he trusts his headlight and keeps on his way. So let the Christian do.

2. They are unchanging. God's paths, like Himself, are "the same yesterday, today, and forever."

3. They are paths of righteousness (Psalm 23:3). Old coins lose their royal stamp by much handling. So with some of our grandest words. Righteousness is one of them. It is not formalism, it is not morality. It is right living, with a pure heart as its source.

4. They are paths of mercy (Psalm 25:10).

5. They are paths of plenty (Psalm 65:11). What a struggle men have for mere existence! They rise early and sit up late and eat the bread of affliction. They have left the paths of the Lord. They have chased phantoms. They must endure for the time the fruit of their doings. Yet, notwithstanding these seeming exceptions, the precious promise abides (Psalm 37:3).

6. They are paths of life (Proverbs 2:19). What a path that where Christ is the support of our steps, guide of our way, and the crown of our journey's end!

7. They are paths of peace (Proverbs 3:17; Isaiah 26:3). There is no peace but in the narrow way where God gives pardon and reconciliation.

8. They are His paths (Isaiah 2:3). It is not possible, in a spiritual sense, that God should give us anything and not give us Himself. Without Himself the graces of the Spirit are only names.

IV. HOW TO FIND THESE PATHS.

1. By standing. How hard it is to stop and stand still and think and search!

2. By seeing. With open eyes we may see whether the path be an old path, whether it is macadamised with living truth, whether they who are upon it wear the livery of the Great King.

3. By asking. Men are ever ready to ask counsel in worldly things. Why not of God and His servants in regard to heavenly things? "Ask, and ye shall receive."

4. By walking. Having used sight and tongue and thoughts, we are then to act. God has united faith and works, prayer and activity.

V. THE PROMISE TO THOSE WHO OBEY. "Rest."
(E. P. Ingersoll, D. D.)
Parallel Verses
KJV: Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Good morning, my friend COL Mikel J. Burroughs and thank you for posting New Path as a focus.

Some young people have firm ideas about the path they believe is right for them.
a. Some follow their parents’ example and tend to be guided by their parents towards achieving that goal - from farmers, to skilled trades to doctors and lawyers.
b. Others of us have firm ideas that are not part of our faily heritage.
1. In my case, I determined to be on my own by 18 years old. Early on I had leaned towards being a soldier or a mercenary. I realized having an experience as a soldier would be a requirement to be accepted into a mercenary position.
2. By the time I was 11 or 12 my plans had focused on being a U.S. Army soldier. I went through trials and tribulations of being a teenager outside of Philadelphia in the early 1970's. I was given an opportunity to apply to USNA Annapolis and went through a physical at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital in 1973. There were many war-wounded in the hospital wards. I decided against applying to USNA because I wanted to be a soldier.
3. I enlisted delayed entry on October 23, 1974 for a 12B enlistment contract with a $2,500 bonus upon completion of all training requirements [BCT and AIT].

Quotes:
1. Angela Atkinson 'My life is a path of endless growth. Because of this, I am forgiving of times when I may say or do something that I later wish I had done differently.'
2. Unknown. 'A friend is not a coincidence in our life. They were a stranger meant to come into our life to bring us priceless lessons and funny memories.'
3. James Van Praagh 'We have all been placed on earth to discover our own path, and will never be happy if we live someone else's idea of life'
4. Ruben Chavez 'Pay attention to the things you are naturally drawn to. They are often connected to your path, passion and purpose in life. Have the courage to floow them'
5. Doe Zantamoto 'A change in direction does not mean you are abandoning your path. Few paths are wide, straight or predictable'

The meme you shared 'Not all storms come to disrupt your life. Some come to clear your path" reminds me that even hurricanes and tornados can clear paths. The paths and land tend to have debris which needs to be cleared but a path has been hewn nonetheless.

The LORD God opens and closes doors in our lives. As we follow HIS lead sometimes, we come towards a precipice or other impassable object. In HIS perfect timing HE reveals the door we need to through. As we are obedient to HIM, HE guides us through that door into an opportunity beyond what we hoped for.

Over time, another nearly overwhelming challenge will arise. Our faith in God is strengthened from HIS Word and our earlier experiences walking in obedient faith.

In HIS perfect timing HE guides us towards the new door/path and the previous door is closed to us. Following the LORD's lead is anything but dull :-)
