Good rebuttal, but I chose to just ignore him. His words already doomed his career so anything I have to say is throwing salt in an open wound. Sad that someone thinks of the protectors as the problem.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - excellent read. I knew the ASVAB was a portion and was not aware of the PT portion being in the equation.

I simply refer to the old story about the sheep and the sheepdogs..... Its individuals such as the "teacher" in question who make me even more proud of the service I gave to America and her people. I believe it was President Reagan who once said, "Some people wonder all their lives if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem." I think the same can be said for all od us who offered ourselves up in defense of our uniquely American freedom. It's quite obvious to me that the individual who said those words to a classroom full of teenaged students was merely attempting to project his own character flaws onto those of us who have actually contributed to our nation.
" War is an ugly thing but the ugliest of things.
The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
The who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made, and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." --- John Stuart Mill (1806-1873)
I'd be willing to bet that this "intellectual" teacher has never read a single word of a man like Mr. Mill. He strikes me much more as being one who has imbrued himself with the like of Marx, Lenin, Mao, Trotsky, Clinton, Pelosi, Obama, et al....
Just my opinion....

Maj Marty Hogan - When someone has something negative to say about the military... where I am from that is pretty much an alien concept.
I can only assume that this person will "fail" his fellow man.
When the time comes to rescue, render immediate aid, or simply stand up for those who are overwhelmed by another's anger or animosity... that person will probably fail.
I have occasionally been surprised by these people when they show even a glimmer of "guts". Yet knowing these same people the rest of the time tends to be the polar opposite of what I call being a "real" person.
I am usually disappointed by them in the future having given them some "mental" quarter from my previous judgment.
I am no angry war hawk... yet at the same time most of our fiercest warriors, General Mathis comes to mind as usual, are men whom I would absolutely give very much to have even the privilege of meeting or the honor of knowing.
Donald Trump is crude and crass at times. Yet I tend to view him as a true warrior as well. He seems to yet stand for our republic... unlike those who chose to kneel.
Kneeling is a submissive posture. I am a bit brash and adventurous myself.
For me to submit to another's actual will requires much knowledge of their own merit.

I hate to break it to this individual whom I would not even give credit to being a teacher but a person to spread His biased opinions upon and of course hold Himself up to be better than others that actually paid a price for the Freedom this idiot has ! When i look at the high caliber of many of the Military members including my Dad, a Navy Veteran with a degree in Electrical Engineering, an Uncle an Army Veteran, with a MS degree, another uncle, also Retired Army, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. My self with a BS degree. I do not advocate a degree means Your smart, I present as evidence some people who are college graduates that certainly don't qualify and I suspect this so called teacher is one of them. Also commissioned Officers in the service have at least a Bachelor's Degree in order to become officers, the exception some early commissioning with an Associate Degree Who must obtain a Bachelor's to keep the rank. Its apparent that Mr Banfield hasn't a clue what He is talking about. I'm very thankful that My children and Grandchildren never had a teacher with Mr Banfield's high level of arrogance and ignorance ! This individual should never again be allowed into any classroom and to insult families and students He somehow thinks He is superior too.

First the guy is an idiot plan and simple second, he has no right to be pushing his ideology onto his students. His job is to teach his subject matter, not trying to embarrassing young kids because they want to be a Marine or a Soldier etc. Should be ban from the classroom for life. I taught middle school for 9 years, not place for anything but academics in the classroom. Plus I will put my education level up against his any day of the week, 1 BA. 1 BS, 2 Masters, and I was just a plain old Staff Sergeant in the military.
