When I first saw the email message SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL I thought it said EDITORIAL: Another shameful VA figure. I was thankful that this was not an editorial targeting a VA figure; but, it was targeting VA oversight of veteran care facilities.
I am glad that "Sen. Richard Codey paid a surprise visit last week to a Dover [New Jersey] boarding house for older veterans with physical and mental-health issues, he wasn’t just concerned about reports he had received about poor living conditions. He was deeply frustrated, having visited the same facility for the same reason two years ago, only to find out that little if any progress had been made since then."
Thankfully Sen Codey had a news team on hand to document whet he saw and heard form residents about the shoddy conditions that the veterans are living under.
It is unconscionable that the VA made a "statement after last week’s inspection [with] all the earmarks of a whitewash, explaining that residents were comfortable and expressed no desire to move, and that “there have been no issues placing veterans at the site.”
I wholeheartedly concur with the bottom line "The public knows about this one because Codey blew the whistle. But state and VA officials have to do a far better job all across New Jersey assuring that such shameful conditions aren’t repeated, in Hillside Manor or anywhere else."

Easier to beg for forgiveness! I posted this editorial on Twitter to the attention of NJ Vets & Gov Christie. The entire state should be ashamed! They treated the low lifes from the show Jersey Shore better then this heros!
