Thanks for reminding us that 41 years ago LBJ announced that the deployed force levels in South Vietnam area od operations would be increased from 75,000 to 125,000 SP5 Mark Kuzinski. In their calculations which took into consideration projected retirement, ETS and casualty rates, the DoD recommended an increase in the number of draftees to be called up from 17,000 to 35,000 per month - just over a 50% increase.

I have always felt sorry for President Johnson in that he inherited this lousy war and it seems his presidency was marred by it,he did in fact do much better at home with his civil rights bills and war on poverty than his predecessor, the war destroyed him in the end politically and physically that's just my slant on it thought he was a decent man in a terrible place and time.
