I grew up with the Merrilee Rush (born Merrilee Gunst) version she sand with the Turnabouts which became a Top 10 hit which earned her a Grammy nomination for female vocalist of the year in 1968.

I always preferred the Merrilee Rush version as well, LTC Stephen F.. The composer was Chip Taylor. TSgt Joe C..
