Already had a Marlin 1895GS in .45-70 and a Marlin 336C in .30-30, both of which which I gave to my son. Why get a Henry when you can have a Marlin?

Mine were both pre 2007; the 333C was from approx. 1980, and the 1895GS was from approx. 2000. I had no trouble with either rifle.

Personal taste would be a reason. I have neither.

CW5 Jack Cardwell - Interesting (to me, anyway!) side bar on the Marlin 1895GS. After giving it to my son in 2015, my Daughter-in-Law, Miss Hannah, who weighs in at a whopping 110lbs soaking wet, claimed it as "hers" and she shoots it like a boss. She used for deer and elk until this year when my son bought her a Ruger American Compact model in .30-06. Pictured is Miss Hannah with a 2016 monster forked horn Columbia Black Tail. Best thing about whackin a deer with a .45-70 is it drops AND field dresses at the same time!

PO1 John Johnson I found deer had a similar response when I was having to use a shotgun with slugs, back when I hunted on Robin's AFB.

There are some who should add this to their Christmas list. Definitely better than another tie!
