Thanks for letting us know SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. The more we rely on batteries the more vulnerable we can become to stock outages and critical failures.
I know in the past, the futuristic proposal for heat activated batteries was being developed that would be recharged by body heat for instance. that is probably a long way off. the Conformal Wearable Battery (CWB) seems to be an interim solution.
The "water-in-salt" aqueous lithium-ion battery that "promises to supply power, efficiency and longevity comparable to today's lithium-ion batteries, yet without the current fire and chemical risks" is probably a mid-term potential solution.
Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) and lithium-air (Li-Air) may be the most reasonable proposal for increased and consistent battery power at a marginal cost.
One of the biggest issues with replacing the type of battery to be used is that it requires modification to the system which requires batteries.

Leave it to technology to solve current problems SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. My hearing aids use batteries that I replace about once a week. I know many older adults have a hard time changing the batteries due to dexterity problems but I was just reading yesterday they not have a hearing aid with a rechargeable battery. I am sure they will all be going this way before long.
