Check static line! There is a reason we practice it.
It looked to me like the static line was routed between his leg. This is why he tumbles just after reaching static line length. The rigging is designed to break off, but if you lose enough momentum it will not. You must choose, see if you can free yourself and use the main or cut lose and use the reserve chute you have on your front.
