Service Members Can Watch the Rio Olympics Online Anywhere in the World

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is partnering with NBC to provide active duty and retired service members with streaming coverage from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. The streaming will be available worldwide.

The games take place August 5-21 in Brazil. NBC will stream 4,500 hours of coverage, including live streaming all competition, as 10,500 athletes from 206 countries compete in 35 sports during the event. If you’re really into judo or archery or shooting, you can watch all of the qualifying matches instead of just the medal round you usually get on regular TV.

You need to have an active shopmyexchange.com account to verify your eligibility to watch. Service members can access NBC Olympics’ digital coverage from their computers or personal devices by visiting NBCOlympics.com or the NBC Sports app and choosing the Exchange as their service provider.

They’re not offerings specifics, but content rights restrictions will also apply to some OCONUS locations. Hopefully that’s just a legal disclaimer because there’s one island someplace on the backside of nowhere where there’s problem.

If the overwhelming streaming options are too much for you, the American Forces Network (AFN) will also offer extensive NBC Olympics’ broadcast and cable coverage on its television services for the overseas American military communities around the world.
