Following several days of consultations with the Cambodian government, South Vietnamese troops, supported by artillery and air strikes, launch their first major military operation into Cambodia. The South Vietnamese encountered a 300-man Viet Cong force in the Kandal province and reported killing 53 communist soldiers. Two teams of U.S. helicopter gunships took part in the action. Three South Vietnamese soldiers were killed and seven wounded.

I would estimate given this lopsided ratio 3/53 that the war should have ended by 1968 or so and also suspect the U.S.gunships did most of the damage,not that I would ever suspect our gallant South Vietnamese allies of doctoring body counts !

Body counts and results of battle were made in good faith yet how many contained errors? How many times did multiple pieces from the same body get counted as multiple people? Tying victory to body counts or even viewing enemy dead as a show of progress counts really for nothing for there is, as they say, plenty more where that came from!
