Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse. It looks like the storm has arrived here but for us, fortunately, it is rain, not snow

Okay, trying this again. Unexpected problems trying to post this morning.
I am taking this in a different direction today. Over the past year or so, I have given or received a number of unexpected kindnesses. From dropping off meals, running errands for others, doing small favors, just spending some time listening...the impact has been far greater than one would expect. Have you given or received an unexpected kindness that has made a difference?

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen It will only be a mistake if you don't learn from it. I admit a few mistakes had to be repeated before I truly learned. With age I learn a little faster.

When I was in a leadership role I tried to be kind. When there's a dirty job and you're right in there it sets a good example. When you show that you care, that you really listen, that you are fair. When you do little things on a random basis the example shown starts to grow and spread. Can being kind in a leadership role backfire? Sure, but for the most part you get respect. They just need to be aware of the line at which things will change. I always told my guys and gals that whatever they did or whatever happened let me know, don't let it be a surprise. I think I learned a lot from that and I could often get out in front of problems.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - Your main quote says it all - thank you Charlie...

“The unexpected can go two ways today, it can be the unexpected problems, disasters, or mistakes, or it could be the unexpected, good things that come into our lives. An unexpected new friend, a new opportunity that is unexpected, or a lucky thing that happens that is totally unexpected. Whatever you have unexpected pop, it’s how you process it. Do you go off the deep end or do you look at the unexpected with a positive attitude and deal with it. Here is what I wish for everyone today…

‘Unexpected blessings are coming your way.” — Unknown Author

As a leader you must have that Plan B ready when Plan A fails due to the unexpected. May you treat that with flexibility and a confident response; may your mind, body, and soul be opened to grace, goodness, peace, forgiveness, and a continued bountiful life of purpose; and keep your family safe, secure, happy, and healthy. May your life bring you passion, dedication, and determination to create the extraordinary and the right tools to deal with the unexpected.” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

I hope that you are calm in unexpected situations and help others to calm down and remain calm in stressful circumstances. I expect that you demonstrate compassion for others who are suffering and that you are kind enough to offer hope to many. No doubt your character has been firmed in the fires of testing. ‘we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.’ [Romans 5:3b-5 ESV] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.

I pray HOLY Spirit for an increase of the fruit kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control in each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters in these challenging times. I thank YOU for sanctification individually and corporately including the trials and testing YOU enable us to be exposed to and work though as YOU strengthen our character, resolve and transparency. I pray that YOU use each of us to demonstrate love for YOU through loving our neighbors, people we interact with and even enemies. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? [Matthew 5:43-47 ESV]
I pray for patience, discernment, knowledge and abundant love for parents, guardians, grandparents and extended family who are caring for young children. In this season when a significant number of people are wearing face masks which hide much of their face, many young children are confused and some fearful since they are inhibited from seeing facial expressions clearly. I pray that each one spending time with young children is reassuring the children that they are loved by action more than words. ‘There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.’ [1 John 4:18-19 ESV]
I lift each evicted families & evicted business owners, recently terminated employees, homeless people, the functionally insane, those suffering from PTSD, those who are fearful, and any who are devoid of hope to YOU LORD. I pray you bless each with a large measure of peace tonight. I pray that YOU protect each and enable them to sleep securely throughout this night. ‘Uphold me according to your promise, that I may live, and let me not be put to shame in my hope. [Psalm 119:116 ESV] and 'For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,' says the LORD, who has compassion on you.' [Isaiah 54:10]
I pray for hope, tranquility, and financial wisdom for each of those living on fixed income who worked through their lifetime and/or were married to life-long workers [including widows, widowers and divorcees] 'Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this_ to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.' [James 1:27 ESV]
I pray that you and your family members sleep well Thursday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Friday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good “Thursday!” Morning “Burroughs’ Posse Leader from the Sunny skies of SW Florida... and this weather is not "Unexpected", but rather Expected... LOL!

It is: “Unexpected Day!” It happens!

"You have to take risks. We will only understand the miracle of life fully when we allow the unexpected to happen." - Paulo Coelho

"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." - Henry David Thoreau

"Nobody says you must laugh, but a sense of humor can help you overlook the unattractive, tolerate the unpleasant, cope with the unexpected, and smile through the day." - Ann Landers

"We live in a world which in some respects is mysterious; things can be experienced which remain inexplicable; not everything which happens can be anticipated. The unexpected and the incredible belong in this world. Only then is life whole. For me the world has from the beginning been infinite and ungraspable." - Carl Jung

"It's easy to live the expected and conventional. It's when you live the unexpected that you start having fun with your life." - Richard Bach

"Life is full of surprises and and serendipity. Being open to unexpected turns in the road is an important part of success. If you try to plan every step, you may miss those wonderful twists and turns. Just find your next adventure-do it well, enjoy it-and then, not now, think about what comes next." - Condoleezza Rice

Most of the "Unexpected" resides in the lives of the average person, but...

“Leaders that adapt and have that Plan B mentality, adapt to situations that rear their ugly head with simplicity, and employ keen flexibility can respond quickly to the unexpected!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs
