Good morning RP Family. It is supposed to be 105 today so I plan to chill in the comfort of my a/c and maybe a dip in the pool. I’m glad to see that Col. Mikel Burroughs is taking time for himself to chill. As the saying goes “All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy.” It is important to recharge ourselves so that we don’t run out of energy or enthusiasm to continue.
I have chosen a devotion from Greg Laurie at harvest.org for you today. It talks about taking time for yourself to relax, which I believe is in line with today’s quote. Enjoy and be blessed.
And He said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.
Scripture:
Mark 6:31
During the next 24 hours, your heart will beat 103,000 times, your blood will travel 168,000,000 miles, you will breathe 23,000 times, inhale 480 cubic feet of air, eat 3.5 pounds of food, speak 4,800 words, move 750 muscles, and exercise 7 million brain cells.
No wonder we feel tired. We’re constantly going. We’re the only nation in the world with a mountain called Rushmore. American tombstones could be inscribed with three words: Hurried. Worried. Buried. We are always in a rush to get somewhere. We have all kinds of technology that is supposed to make our lives easier, but does it? I think it makes us a lot more distracted. We are having a perpetual conversation that just can’t wait.
I think it’s a great idea to unplug everything sometimes, to shut it all off, relax, and recharge. That is the principle of the Sabbath. It is not a legalistic day we have to observe, but it is a good time to simply focus on the Lord. For many of us that is Sunday. I love to see Sunday set apart as the Lord’s Day, just as the early church did. We should make our first priority to worship with God’s people, and I think God will honor that in our lives if we do.
Even Jesus took time off. In Mark 6 we read, “Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. And He said to them, ‘Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.’ For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat” (verses 30–31).
If we don’t come aside with Him, we will come apart. Focus on the things of God.

I pray that you and I are able to relax and ponder with wisdom before we choose to speak or act, my friend and brother-in-Christ PO1 H Gene Lawrence and sister-in-Christ Linda Lawrence.
I am thankful that YOU instituted the sabbath and YOU are focused on having us developing a habit to rest and encourage those who work for us, our family members and others to rest from labors of physical activity as well as mental work.
I pray for peace for each one who reads this and their loved ones in the midst of physical storms of life. I especially pray dear God that YOU bless each one struggling with mental storms that are associated with PTSD, rage, and other mental illnesses with a sound mind, the ability to rest and sleep peacefully free of nightmares.
I pray that YOUR adopted children will be discerning in what we watch and listen to as we rest. Calm the raging storms in this nation dear God. Thwart the plans of those focused on evil.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs Enjoy the rally and be safe on the road.
Sometimes you can't make things happen. You have to just sit back and let them unfold. Some of us are pretty intense and have difficulty with that. I am one of them. I am a doer but I have learned there are times I must just let them be. How well do you step back? As a follower/team member for this part of the event cycle, I will get to practice that a bit more.
