I only had one encounter with a Donut Dollie. While I was in the hospital I had her write a letter to my family. She told them I wouldn't be writing for a while because I broke my arm. My mom wrote back with a copy of the telegram my family received when I got wounded and said this is how the government describes your broken arm. The telegram said I received multiple gunshot and shell fragment wounds to my head, chest, abdomen and all extremities. What? The Donut Dollie didn't lie. My arm was broken. Anyway, those gals were sweethearts.
