That seems like great news SP5 Mark Kuzinski that Open the Books "is calling on the Department of Veterans Affairs to showcase work by artists who have served in the military, after it was revealed the VA spent some $20 million on lavish art at facilities around the country."
It would be great if more VA facilities would showcase work by artists who have served in the military.

It would be a boost for the men, and women's moral, of those that served and are serving.

I did notice that most of the "lavish spending" was in California. Regardless, it is good that someone is pointing out faults with the VA. They should be utilizing their resources for veterans whenever possible.....veteran artists, outside contractors, and any other service required should be offered to veterans before the money is spent elsewhere. If they use veteran owned and operated services, they are increasing their outreach in the veteran community.
