SP5 Mark Kuzinski Here is the difference for me between rest and recovery. I just drove over 1,200 miles in a U-Haul Van after packing up an entire house in one day, 2 days of travel, then two days of unloading and moving furniture and boxes up to a second floor apartment. Body is waisted and needs recovery before I take on another physical task like that again, and rest is needed to get the mind and soul back into shape for the next adventure. I'm back in San Diego, CA today (flight one way) getting ready for my last gig with the Hickory Wind Band and then riding the Harley back 1,200 miles to Colorado. Body need recovery and mind needs rest! (or maybe a combination of both)! That;s my story and I'm going to stick to it!

in my experience recovery applies to serious injuries or surgeries SP5 Mark Kuzinski. For instance it took four months for my body to warm from 34 degrees to normal following mitral valve repair surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 2003. It took a month to recover from complications in colon resection surgery in 2008.
Rest can occur while awake or asleep and tends to be characterized with a refreshing of the body and senses.

Driving a truck long distances and focusing on the road is tiring sometimes and its amazing what a 10-15 min. power nap will do for you !!!

SP5 Mark Kuzinski Rest is doing one body part a week when lifting. Recuperation is taking entire week off to give your body a break. It's hard to do the first time, but when you see the results it's incredible.
