Great question. The other phenomenon that I wonder about is “ third man phenomenon”. People experience a strong sensation of another being guiding them during harrowing experiences. There is a sense of loss when the being leaves.

Not combat related, but possibly caused by Agent Orange. In 2021, I suffered 3 collapses of the same lung over a period of 10 days. When the second one happened I was transported to a hospital and coded in the Emergency Department. The doc was able to bring me back - I was without a heartbeat for just over 4 minutes. It was at that time that my lung filled with blood, The doc didn't feel comfortable taking care of me, so I was air-transported to another hospital fifty miles away. In that ED, I coded again, but this time it was for 9+ minutes. Both of these incidents took place on the same night, about 2 1/2 hours apart. No, I did not see a light at the end of the tunnel. No, I did not feel "pulled" by friends and relatives already dead. Yes, my chest REALLY hurt for the next week. For those looking for answers, I have none. To be honest, I remember nothing of either event. The knowledge I have of them is from reading the medical notes that were part of my chart and file.
So, I really am living on borrowed time!

I have seen these on many old Episodes of Unsolved mysteries but it was not combat related but still related to what you're talking about. I believe these Episodes are on Amazon, prime or Netflix. And you can look at all the old ones with Robert Stack and others.

Not me, being shot at and hit in a B-52 is the closest I've come.
