I cannot speak for other RP members, but I was taught that in a total war* (e.g. Ukraine fighting for their very survival both as a nation state and a people) you prosecute the war by every means possible irrespective of the "oil prices" for the rest of the world. I was also under the general impression that the US and her allies both in and out of NATO, were not purchasing Russian oil product. The Administration also decided early-on that oil was "evil" and gutted our ability to supply our own needs and those of our allies. If oil is evil, why would the US care about the price of oil?
Unlike our erstwhile leaders I am very concerned about the price of oil here and overseas. However there is a dramatic disconnect between us supplying multiple billions of dollars of advanced offensive weaponry to Ukraine, and Ukraine's effective utilization those weapons. Russia's only viable exports are oil and military hardware. Nevertheless, attacks on oil production have now been prosecuted as strategic targets with good reason as the tactical concerns have become less urgent. Zelenskyy understands war better than the entire Biden Administration. Wars are prosecuted to be won. That's why every conflict fought by the US since the close of WWII has had a less than satisfactory conclusion. This isn't the "Age of Enlightenment" where wars were regularly fought with limited means for limited ends. Ukraine understands total war, and Israel REALLY understands it. Hopefully we will understand it again before it's too late.
*(Total War) mobilizes all of the resources of society (industry, finance, labor, etc.) to fight the war. It also expands the targets of war to include any and all civilian-associated resources and infrastructure. (Wikipedia)

The only reason that this administration doesn't want Russian oil facilities destroyed in total war. Doctrines, because it's going to hurt President Biden in the election.

Not necessarily the first time it's happened, and even the U.S. gave it a shot during WWII, CPT (Join to see)!
