Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that New Years Day is the anniversary of the birth of U.S. WWII Veteran, American professional baseball player and team executive Henry Benjamin "Hank" Greenberg who was born Hyman Greenberg and had been nicknamed "Hammerin' Hank", "Hankus Pankus", or "The Hebrew Hammer"
The article you posted neglected his military service.
Hank Greenberg enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1940 as war loomed and re-enlisted after Pearl Harbor. He missed 4 1/2 years of his playing career while serving in the military.
Thanks for honoring Henry Benjamin "Hank" Greenberg on his birthday and I hope that Hank Greenberg is resting in peace.
