Get Your VA Health Record Quickly and Easily - My HealtheVet

Thank you, my friend PO2 Robert M. for mentioning the benefits of MyHealthevet. I have a had a premium account with them for a few years.
1. The Blue Button process enables veterans to get pdf or text versions of both medical records and self-entered data.
a. There is a lot of boilerplate text in the records - counseling, medical issues, medicines are repeated many times - for every appointment.
b. The standard of three business days for adding is met or it takes longer.
c. For serious stuff, your doctor needs to tell you first before they add to Blue Button access.
2. You can request results, DVD/CD. doctor, radiology, etc. before they are posted [when there is a doctor hold]. You need to sign a release of the records at the VAMC where the process took place. I did this for my CT Myelogram last month and learned much.
3. You can communicate via secure messages with doctors who give you access. I can communicate with my primary care, cardiology, pain management, the patient advocate but not the other clinics I use.
4. You can request refills of medication and other prescription things through MyHealthevet. The system lets you know how many refills you have left. It also ensures you don't get the prescription filled too early :-) I have had a couple medications which were sent to me which did not list refills - those tend to be pain medications.
