My demonstration speech when I attended college was how to construct a paper airplane for flying fun. The instruction book was for distance, circles ,and loops. Needless to say it was a interesting demonstrative speech. A very good way of gaining and A !

NATIONAL PAPER AIRPLANE DAY
National Paper Airplane Day is celebrated every year on May 26 in the United States. It commemorates the simple aeronautical toy that’s been around for thousands of years.
Flying paper planes is an inexpensive, healthy, and stimulating form of entertainment. So, put down your smartphones and get outside for some primitive fun – even if for only a few hours one day of the year.
The use of paper airplanes is believed to have originated 2,000 years ago in China. The earliest known date of the creation of modern paper planes was said to have been in 1909. However, the most accepted.
Did you know ?
The largest paper aircraft had a wingspan of 59.74 ft. Students and employees made it in Germany on 28th September 2013.
The distance record (226 feet, 10 inches) was set by Joe Ayoob, with a plane in February 2012.
The record time for the longest-lasting paper airplane flight is 29.2 seconds.

Thank you, my friend SGT John " Mac " McConnell for continuing your series of posts on obscure and made-up-holidays, it seems. In this case National Paper Airplane Day, reminds me of the time, I drove my darling wife to the state Republican convention and it went into serious overtime. We were there for about 10 hours. At one point late in the afternoon, somebody in the balcony seats [we were also in the balcony] tossed a paper airplane out onto the convention floor and it soared quite a way. That brought cheers. Soon we were creating paper airplanes designed for distance or acrobatics :-) I produced a coupe which soared fairly far out onto the convention floor. One of the highlights occurred when an airplane soared out onto the convention floor and a woman in mid- conversation snatched it bout of the air with barely a glance and kept talking :-)
Then in what seemed like a scene from Animal House, somebody came out to tell us that we needed to stop throwing paper airplanes because we might hit and damage the large screen at the back of the platform

Lived in a highrise in Honolulu for a time and used to fly them off the lanai and watch them soar over the then-new H-1 Interstate (Yeah, I know. Interstate highway in Hawaii?)
