Mars Perseverance Rover Found a Meteorite - First Meteorite Encounter

THis is the 2nd video in a series this Monday morning as the Mission Control Team has been busily working with the Perseverance Rover...and one of the visible objects found is a good sized Meteorite, which looks just like a chunk of iron, but I am sure is made up of other metals... The resolution of these objects is amazing! It is like being right there on Mars... Note This video only has 313 views thus far, so you will be among the first 500 who watch this...

On March 29, 2021 (Sol 37), NASA’s Perseverance Rover captured an image of a peculiar rock that appears to be a meteorite
The rover stumbled upon this rock while it is in the process of deploying the mars helicopter
It will examine the rock using a combination of a laser, a camera and spectrometers mounted at the end of its robotic arm
It captured this image using its Left Mastcam-Z camera
This is a raw image from the rover, not color-processed
The rock is quite different from others found in the same area
No official statement or confirmation was given by NASA at the time of making this video
If it turns out to be a meteorite, then it will be Perseverance’s first meteorite encounter.

I realize I am not a geologist but to me that rock looks a whole lot newer than the surrounding rocks. Not smoothed over like older Mars rocks that I saw. That suggests that Mars is being hit from time to time. What do you think?

I am sure that Mars is hit by numerous space debris from the steroid belt and beyond, as it's atmosphere is so thin & it's magnetosphere is weak compared to Earths...
