Thanks for reminding us SGT John " Mac " McConnell that what we take for granted cost lives. In this case landing an aircraft on an aircraft carrier cost the life of Squadron Commander Edwin Harris Dunning, DSC who first landed successfully on the HMS Furious in Scapa Flow, Orkney on 2 August 1917 in his Sopwith Pup and then was drowned on August 7, 1917 during his second attempt.
Kudos to test pilots everywhere.
