Wondering what year he graduated from WestPoint and who some of his famous classmates were at the time.. A lot of those early graduates who later became famous often went to school together or were in the same class at West Point.

Sir, I'd never heard of Kit Carson attending West Point. My understanding is that he was barely literate. He is an absolute hero throughout the Southwest, except for the Navajo Nation, where he is despised. This article does not mention that Ft. Carson, in Southern Colorado, was named for him.

Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that Christmas Eve is the anniversary of the birth of mountain man (fur trapper), wilderness guide, Indian agent, and U.S. Army officer Christopher Houston Carson who is best known Kit Carson.
Rest in peace Kit Carson!
