1990: Nelson Mandela released from prison
Nelson Mandela, the leader of the anti-apartheid movement, was released from prison on Feb. 11, 1990, after serving 27 years of a life sentence for treason. ...
Thanks TSgt Joe C. for letting us know that on February 11, 1990 South-African African-National-Congress (ANC), leader Nelson Mandela, was released from prison after 27.
Nelson Mandela was focused on ending South African apartheid. He learned a lot from Mahatma Gandhi as he advocatied nonviolent resistance to apartheid–South Africa’s institutionalized system of white supremacy and racial segregation.

TSgt Joe C.: What a great HUMANITARIAN was MR. NELSON MANDELA! His story is tragic; yet, very, very triumphant.
