I hope they find a cure for loneliness and it doesn't become an addiction like smoking, drinking, doing drugs and smoking pot. We already have a high incidence of suicide from the elderly, veterans, unemployed natives on the reserve with little or no hope who turn to drugs and alcohol. There are approximately 123 suicides per day in the USA, I wonder how many of these could have been prevented had they had a pill like this and had they been sober? Canada, with a much smaller population, has about 10 suicides per day. I wonder how many could have been saved have they been sober and had access to this pill?
My sister, who had substance abuse and domestic violence problems with an estranged husband, hung herself on July 4th, 2015. She had issues with drinking and I'm sure she could have dealt with her problems better had she been sober and she would be alive right now.

SPC Margaret Higgins that is awesome because just like an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, when you find out that you're down and you find that others are down like you or worse, you feel strength and all your weaknesses and you become a sober person and in this case, you become a less sad person or even a happy person knowing that other people feel similar to how you feel. Thank you, Margaret, for helping her out. I knew you were down and she can relate to you and vice versa. Thank you!

Kind of a slippery slope. The opioid crisis exists because there are pills for pain. I get concerned when folks claim there has to be a pill to cure something, especially in the case of lonlieness where so many other options exist.

You are right, it could have unintended consequences and it could be just something the pharmaceutical companies can sell to make billions of more dollars and overcharge like they do insulin medication.
