I expect you have met and overcome many challenges in your life from personal issues and obstacles to family, military service, business, employment and friendship challenges. No doubt you are wise enough to learn from failures of your own and vicariously from failures of others. I hope and pray that each of us does our best to share the lessons we have learned with humility, insight and compassion. I pray that you and I focus on loving others. In doing so we demonstrate our love for God. ‘Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.’ [Hebrews 10:23-25 ESV my brother-in-Christ SFC Joe S. I pray for humility, endurance in selfless service, compassion and sufficient fruit of the Holy Spirit goodness, peace, self-control, and patience for each one of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads or listens to this prayer. Thank YOU, LORD for renewing our mind through the washing of water with the word as YOU transform our soul. I pray that YOU bless husbands, wives, and children with the Godly desire to love selflessly and that YOU enable each of us to do so. 'Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word' [Ephesians 5:25-26 ESV]
I pray that you and I increasingly demonstrate active faith in the LORD and love for those who love us as well as our neighbors. I lift widows, widowers, and other individuals grieving to YOU. Motivate and guide each of us to help those in need physically and through intercessory prayer. 'Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.' [James 1:27 ESV]
I pray LORD that YOU cleanse each of YOU adopted sons and daughters of any impurity which inhibits YOUR love from flowing through us. I pray that YOUR light shines through each of when we enter a room, home, mode of common transportation. Empower us bring calm and peace into areas of turmoil. Enable our smile to be contagious. ‘Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.’ [Psalm 51:10-12 ESV]
By YOUR grace and mercy, YOU bless each one of us with one or more gifts including helping, administrating, and teaching. I pray that YOU confirm the gifts for each one of us and that YOU motivate each one of us to bless others by our gifting. "Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers." [1 Timothy 4:14-16 ESV]. Let YOUR light shine YOUR light and love through us to each one YOU bless. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.’
b. Hebrews 12:6-7 ESV ‘It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons’

Lately I have been reintroduced to the philosophy of Stoicism. When I was in college I was introduced to the concept, but youth is wasted on the young. I had become frustrated with the challenges of having civil discourse and with the course of governing in our country (both political parties). I found an introductory book to Stoicism and have found it helpful as it reinforced my belief in the Serenity Prayer and has given my more tools to grow. For those who have become frustrated with the world, I encourage you to look into the concept to deal with the challenges and obstacles of life.
