Thank you my friend and sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown for posting our friend, former RallyPoint member emeritus and brother-in-Christ Colonel Mikel Burrough's VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day! for Tuesday, September 20, 2022.

Topic: Influence Day
Very few of us are in a position to lure the best and brightest to influence and counsel us.
1. More often than not we have input into changes in our life while others have significant impact and influence on the timing and intensity of changes.
2. I have been influenced by many people, but nobody other than my British expatriate parents ever served as a true role model in all respects.
3. True friends and trustworthy counselors are the better humans to seek input, feedback, and advice from.
4. The words of human beings can certainly influence others in positive or negative ways.
5. More often than not we have input into changes in our life while others have significant impact and influence on the timing and intensity of changes.

Quotes:
1. Billy Graham quote Only God himself fully appreciates the influence of a Christian mother in the molding of the character in her children.
2. Jim Rohn 'There are two parts of influence; First influence is powerful; and second influence, is subtle. You wouldn't let someone push you off course; but you might
3. William Ellery Channing 'Influence is to be measured, not by the extent of surface it covers, but by its kind.'
4. B. Rivers 'When I was thinking of you I realized all the positive influences you had on my life, thank you.'
5. Maya Angelou 'You are the sum total of everything you’ve ever seen, heard, eaten, smelled, been told, forgot--it’s all there. Everything influences each of us, and because of that I try to make sure my that experiences are positive.'

Scriptures:
a. James 1:26-27 ESV ‘If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.’
b. Matthew 22:37-40 ESV 'And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.’
c. James 2:14-17 ESV ‘What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.’
d. Proverbs 31:8-9 ESV 'Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.'
e. Isaiah 1:16-17 ESV 'Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.
f. Proverbs 18:24 ESV 'A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.'
g. Hebrews 13:5-6 ESV 'Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
h. Romans 12:10-13 ESV 'Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.'
i. Psalm 1:1-3 ESV ‘'Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.’

I hope and pray that your moral compass is aligned with God’s will for your life. I expect you have processed significantly in influence as a leader of your family, organization, informal leadership position as you have accomplished goals and objectives on time without overextending resources. No doubt you have significant influence on those you lead and who rely on your judgement. Hopefully you and I are working to improve our own behavior and doing our best to be a true friend to family, friends and whomever the LORD leads into our sphere of influence. I expect those you lead appreciate your leadership and your attention to fulfill their hopes and dreams. ‘Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.’ [Philippians 2:3-4 ESV] my brother-in-Christ Maj Robert Thornton

I pray that each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters is content in our circumstances and we are each free from inordinate desires for worldly wealth, power and influence. I expect you have progressed significantly in influence as a leader of your family, organization, informal leadership position as you instill confidence in the plans associated with fulfilling your ambition. No doubt you have significant influence on those you lead and who rely on your judgement. I pray that each of us are increasingly hopeful and resilient in the face of opposition and compassionate to those less fortunate, healthy, unemployed and or underemployed than we are. ‘Restore the joy of our salvation, dear LORD. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation.' [Psalm 51:10-12]

I pray LORD that YOU renew the mind of each of us by the washing of YOUR Word. 'Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.' [Romans 12:2 ESV] Thankfully God is not a respecter of persons and does not show partiality in the human sense of deferring to wealth, power, beauty, or influence. 'So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.' [Acts 10:34-35 ESV]

I lift the journalists, editors, and others involved in publishing and broadcasting ‘news’ and opinion to appear as fact because they believe they impress people by their power of influence. I pray for an increase of discernment and wisdom for the viewers and readers. I pray that many will contact these news outlets and let them know about errors and biased reporting/opinions. A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool. Let a man meet a she-bear robbed of her cubs rather than a fool in his folly.' [Proverbs 17:10, 12 ESV]

I lift the legislators and elected officials who believe that taxation revenue funds are the fiefdom of the federal and state government to YOU LORD. I pray that YOU make it clear that their focus on mammon, political power and influence will lead to their downfall. I pray that many of them will repent while there is time. For those who won’t, I pray YOU will sift them like wheat. ‘'The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him. And he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.' [Luke 16:14-15 ESV]

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Tuesday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Wednesday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.
