Thanks for sharing SP5 Mark Kuzinski the concept of the informational interview which can occur "when you set up a fairly informal meeting with someone to discuss their job or expertise about an industry, and ask for career advice for the purpose of your career advancement."
I always recommend researching a company before contacting them so that you understand what they do, what businesses they rely on [raw materials through finished products including software], and who their customers are.
