LTC (Join to see) Lots of Volcanic Eruptions can cause Global Cooling, also, Sulfur Dioxide counters Carbon Dioxide but I'll Pass on that Level of Volcanic Activity being a a Mt Pinatubo Survivor. As Far a "Nuclear Winter" I'm "Past" "Ex" SAS Team (Nuclear Sealed Authenticaion System/Launch Codes) I'll Pass on that Option Also.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel No, i'm talking about minor climate change enough to cause famine, not for us to be in a nuclear winter.

I wonder how much thought has gone into regional effects of non-ballistic nuclear arms. I learned about some of this when i was on active duty as an enlisted medic and then as a Medical Readiness Officer. None of what I learned sounds like a lot of fun…..

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - Yes, and increase Carbon Dioxide and H2S.
Man is made the scapegoat when Island are forming and sinking all the time due to Volcanic activity and the rift valley in Africa and part of the Eastern Sierras of California have Calderas or rifts forming that can release gas into the water, poison the soil and the atmosphere and the climate zealots still say that the Earth is in Danger when Vulcanism can change the world.

Sorry, those aren't B-61 bombs. B-61s are immediately to the left and right of the white cruise missiles on the trailer in this photo. Also a limited nuclear war would produce roughly the same effects as the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A global nuclear war might produce the effects mentioned, however that's pure conjecture and there's a vast difference between limited and global. Plus, if you really think about it those effects would essentially be massive climate change generated from a single action by man, not the cumulative one you seem to deny.
At the height of the Cold War most NATO countries had nuclear strike missions. The collapse of the Soviet Union put that mission on the back burner, but there is no reason to think that NATO members wouldn't be working towards that capability with their newest equipment.

If someone sets off a nuclear war, we will have a nuclear winter! NO need to worry about climate change or one or two degrees of "warming"
