What insights can you offer to the family and friends of a person suffering with PTSD, who are contributing to the person's failing recover?

It is a stunning experience to watch the people closest to a person with PTSD berate and aggravate the person constantly. Either the family and friends do not realize how they are hurting the person or they do not care what the education and science says about the condition.

As for myself Sister Phyllis, I would say to not enable their drinking or drugging and to educate themselves on the subject of PTSD. If they truly Loved the person suffering, they could encourage them to seek help, which the VA offers for free.
