I have been told by many that I have a dark sense of humor at times :-)
I have rarely been voted down; but, I have been voted down in a humorous discussion which is both sad and amusing in a dark way "-)
I enjoyed the satire of Jonathan Swift and National Lampoon while I was growing up. In the military in the 1970's and 1980's dark humor was common in the Combat Engineer and Infantry units I served with. I realize not everybody likes dark humor.
The Humor topic seems to be focused on light humor. I think that dark humor is appropriate to politics, current events, ancient calamity, etc. Dark humor should not be a place to insult RallyPoint members or political figures.
Do you think the Humor - Dark topic group should be established?

As one who went into Emergency Services after I got out, I can attest to the positive aspects of Dark Humor. If it was not for dark humor and our ability to laugh at situations we found ourselves in after a severely traumatic situation at a fire or EMS call to be able to relieve stress, there would have been a lot of people who would have been chewing on a .45 ACP or beating on their significant others.
There is a time and a place for Dark Humor... and this is it!

LTC Stephen F. I agree. I think that some of us turn to humor during dark times, and that scares some other people. Having a place to put that would be great.

Pogo is definitely a masterpiece among comic strips and it's author, Walt Kelly, one of the bravest men every to put pen to paper. He was one of the few to poke fun at McCarthy during the dark days of the Communist witch hunts.

Al Capp was no slouch. His cartoons named "Lil Abner" was continuously an attack on liberalism. Remember the Schmoos?

MCPO Roger Collins, that I do. They laid eggs and bottles of milk and loved to jump into frying pans to feed anyone that looked at them hungrily. They reproduced rapidly so anyone with a pair of them was self-sufficient. As I recall, that desirable quality was their downfall as well.

Could be - think of men in black and the flash which leads to complete and blissful amnesia :-)

How could you even ask such a question on RP, MCPO Roger Collins ? ! Last time I checked, color equality is all about putting whites down in lieu of building others up, therefore pursuing form of segregation and inequality.
