As we approach closer to Thanksgiving Day, I wanted to take time to say what I am thankful for and hear what everyone else is thankful for.

I am thankful for having a wonderful and caring family that always supports each other through thick and thin. I am thankful for the friends I have made throughout my life. And I am thankful for being given the opportunity to become a future officer in the United States Army.

For the many friends met through this site who supply a dose of knowledge, insight, courage, and humor on a daily basis - a salute to everyone, an embrace, and the thought that all will be safe and sound throughout this holiday celebration.

Here is just a small token of thanks to so many who make a difference:

Its easy to forget, especially going through the tough times, just how much we are blessed with and how much we have to be thankful for.

God above for his blessings
Life - almost lost it twice
My parents and my brother for the family I started with
My wife and 3 children for the family we've now become
Who I am and what I've done in 47 years - when one looks at their life it's amazing at the things one forgets that they've done and the places they've been

I'm grateful for many things. First and foremost and most importantly is for all the blessings the Lord has provided me with. Without Him and His guidance, I would not be where I am now. Second, I am grateful for the love, friendship and advice of my beautiful wife. Third, I am grateful for having had the privilege of serving our country in the military for 23 years. Fourth, I am grateful to have a wonderful job that I can further provide for my family.

To add to what so many have already stated. I am thankful for my brothers and sisters still serving. I am grateful that I was allowed the privilege to serve for 20 years and retire. I am thankful that I was given this great opportunity.

I hope that you all have great Thanksgivings (if you participate) and have great times around the table with your families.

For those of you that are far from home, may you be safe, may you have a table filled with your brothers and sisters and as much happiness as you can muster. And most of all I wish you a speedy and safe trip home! God Bless!

Happy Thanksgiving from Afghanistan RallyPointers!
This year I have a lot to be thankful for, getting promoted to Sergeant First Class in my tenth year of service was a huge one and I have been afforded a lot of increased responsibility in my job over here. I have been able to visit eight countries with my beautiful wife continuing our adventures across the globe.

I’m very thankful that my best friend Jimmy finally got promoted to Staff Sergeant (whew!). And for my wonderful family, I'm so proud of what my Brother and Sister are doing with their lives.
Being here in Afghanistan I have seen an outpouring of support from so many people across our great country that I don’t even know, who have been sending care packages to me and for the Soldiers in my unit, I’m so incredibly thankful for their support! Especially for the support of the great folks from Cigars for Warriors!
But most of all I am thankful for my wonderful wife Daylee, she is always loving to me and supportive of my career in the Army, even when it takes me to places half the world away from her! Being away from my best friend and lover is hard but despite the distance she is always there for me and makes it so much easier.

10 things I am thankful for:

1. Laughter
I'm thankful for laughter. I'm thankful that I can laugh at myself.

2. Simple comforts
I'm thankful for the simplest of comforts, for hot water, light and warmth. I'm thankful I can be generous with others when I can.

3. Freedom
Despite frustration with politics, I'm thankful to be living in the U.S. I'm very thankful for the men and women serving in our military, those who have served and their families.

4. Difficult times
I'm thankful for past adversities that have formed me into the person I am today. I 'm thankful for difficult times that sharpen me and make me better in the end.

5. Health
I'm thankful for my what’s left of my health (both physical and emotional) and I'm thankful that I have support and information so I can improve it.

6. My children
I'm thankful for each of my kids. Thanks for the gray hairs, it was well worth it.

7. Family and Friends
I’m thankful for new & renewed relationships and connections this past year both online and right here at home. Of course, I love my long-time and long distant friendships as well.

8. Best women
I am thankful for my mom and my wife. Need I say more?

9. Nature
I'm thankful for the beautiful world around me, for the changing seasons, the brilliant colors, the promise of coming spring.

10. Today
Today, because it's a new adventure. Today, because it's another opportunity to make a positive change. Today, because it's another chance to open my eyes and see what a fantastic experience life really is. Today, because I greeted another sunrise and will greet another sunset.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving All!
