It was so cold, the top of my boots cracked, Poncho would crack into pieces in the field, as well as anything plastic.
In the barracks we had 1-diesel burning heater, at full blast the barrack temperature would still be 13 degrees. We slept in our bunks with our sleeping bag, 2 sheets, 2 wool blankets, long Johns, and wool socks.

There was one very good advice I got, and that was to get, Battery operated socks. Lol

Cynthia Croft - There were battery operated socks that had wires down to the toe area that kept your feet warm. And it worked, it had a 9 volt battery attached to the top of the socks.

Picking we’re very slim when I was there. Pot Belly heaters that the fuel lines would freeze, Your set of knife, fork and spoon and powered milk. Snack bar with out hamburgers. Great place.
