Couldn't agree more. The USS Gabby Giffords is singularly the single most retarded pick for naming a Naval Vessel in history.

Thanks for sharing and honoring the United States Navy SP5 Mark Kuzinski. I concur with you that it is by far the best navy in the world in terms of the size and capability of the surface, submarine, air fleets and USMC and SEALs; global reach; and the capabilities of the sailors and marines who serve and have served this nation so well.
[Update] The USS Gabby Giffords was a horrible name to pick for a Naval Vessel. Naval vessels should be named after heroic sailors or national treasures including states, cities, etc. IMHO.

Thanks but I can't believe what they are doing with the name games! "Our ships are named by idiots!"

LTC Stephen F. Ms. Giffords was heroic in her recovery but that has nothing to do with Navy ships. They made a big mistake naming a ship after her. I would rather have had it named after a new sailor than her. And I'm sure she was all guns before she got shot. She has changed her tune.

ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!! My uncle was a Naval Aviator during the Battle of Midway. It was his squadron that took out Kamamoto’s huge battleship. He was MIA after the attack and was only 20 years old, college graduate, with a wife in NY. There is a Destroyer Escort named after he m: US Eugene A. GREENE. Thanks for the info, now I know why the Destroyer Escort was the type of ship to honor my uncle’s heroism!
