SGT John McConnell - Thanks for the very interesting post. No member of the military should ever have their ability to serve taken away in such a horrible manner. Sadly and shamefully events like these happened quite a bit back then. It's sad it took so long to right this injustice, but I am thankful congress took action when they did.

Thanks for sharing SGT John " Mac " McConnell. Thankfully God knows what actually happened and HE is the perfect judge. The citizens of Brownsville and the 25th infantry officers and soldiers probably knew what happened. Certainly those involved did.
I expect the killing may well have been justified which is why the soldiers were cleared.
However, those of us who have served know that we are held to a higher standard when deployed to foreign lands. While Texas was part of the USA, posting soldiers at forts particularly in the west was still required.
