The forecasted scorching temperatures didn't turn away participants of the protest; they came prepared. Many of them dutifully followed the call to action to wear white — a symbol of "unity and peace" according to the event's organizers — and they brought fans, umbrellas and coolers of ice for relief. Homemade signs were raised as shields against the beating sun and young children were slathered with sunblock and wore hats.

No surprise my friend PO1 William "Chip" Nagel that for some participants in the 'Families Belong Together' protest the issue was personal.
Those people can thank the drafters of the original legislation that passed Congress in 2000 and was signed by impeached former president William Jefferson Clinton.
1. Harry Reid led the Senate to pass the update to the legislation in 2008.
2. Former POTUS Obama nd the Congress never passed legislation to overturn or modify the law.
3. Under former POTUS Obama DHS separated children from parents in illegal alien cases
4. President Donald Trump's administration charged DHS with fulfilling the law and a firestorm was generated fueled by many of the same radical liberals that supported the law in the first place - disingenuous at best.

Oh, don’t forget, Trump has already changed his policy of enforcing the law. So essentially these people are protesting a policy that no longer exists. Listened to a history on this and it is very complex. We need a trough review and updating of immigration laws. With a socialist in charge in Mexico the economy will fall apart and there will be millions up on millions more attempting to flood into the US. Nothing Trump is doing wasn’t done before. Under Obama parents and children were separated even before coming to America. Our laws have been twisted and tortured and congress needs to act. As with “Occupy Wall Street”, “Pussie hat Protest” etc this will end after the election and reporters and Democrats will go back to not caring.

So again who is to blame for this current situation. The government for enforcing the laws? Perhaps..Previous administrations looking the other way? Could be..or could be the decision of individuals to cross our borders illegally? We all know what the answer is to all this. One thing though, why is nobody protesting the separation of families by CPS or some other agency or protesting the 100,000+ veterans on the street every night homeless..and yet he we are reacting to the weponization of children, who have no legal right to be here in the first place, by the the left..the reality of it all is this type of separation has been going on for years under Clinton and Obama and yet nobody cared then. So what has changed? Trump got elected and not Hillary and the left will do anything to discredit or make a mockery of our president, even at the cost of our country..
