Didn't have phones till my last cruise and they sure didn't have phone cards for us. Very unreliable also. I'm sure they are better now.

Thank you CW5 Jack Cardwell for the great clips of Marines aboard ship. It looked like a comfortable existence. I was only aboard ships for brief periods during training exercises. During one exercise, I became a "Honorary Submariner" on June 3, 1970. We paddled our rafts to the U.S. Submarine Bugara (SS-331), boarded and then submerged for an evening and while onboard we were fed a great spaghetti dinner on china plates. At night, we surfaced, entered our rafts and continued the exercise. I can say that the Navy always treated Marines very good and vice versa.
