Thanks TSgt Joe C. for letting us know that on February 5, 1865 at the Battle of Dabney’s Mill (also known as Hatcher’s Run), Union and Confederate forces around Petersburg, Virginia, began a three-day battle that produces 3,000 casualties but ends with no significant advantage for either side.
This was part of the Petersburg, Virginia campaign which was south of Richmond as U.S. Grant sought to encircle, starve and force the CSA to capitulate
