Thanks SGT John " Mac " McConnell for reminding us about the Pinto which in some ways unintentionally resembled a VBIED.
As somebody with a last name of Ford, I bore my share of jokes about my last name :-)

I was the lead Traffic Accident Investigator on a multi-car crash, including a rear-ended Pinto, in Kansas City in 1978. The media was everywhere on that one. Flew in the MSM boys, too. I was on the nightly news coast to coast!!!

I remember reading about that in the local news paper, this happened about the time I bought my '76 Mustang.

My best man from my wedding had one, thought it would take my Mustang on a straightaway. I left him in the dust.
