Thanks for sharing my friend SP5 Mark Kuzinski.
Actually the 1960's, 1970's were very unstable times in the Middle East as the Palestinian splinter groups fought each other and Israel, Lebanon began to disinterested into internecine warfare not to mention the 1967 and 1973 Arab-Israeli wars. The Camp-David accords hosted by POTUS Jimmy Carter brought relative peace between Anwar Sadat's Egypt and Menachem Begin's Israel for the first time since 1946. They were signed in March 1979. Later that year the Shah of Iran was ousted during the Iranian revolution. The Revolutionary Guards developed into a formidable force after the Iran-Iraq war.
The book and movie Lawrence of Arabia helped educate many about the Middle east during WWI. I have many books on the Middle East during WWII.

The British were incredibly fortunate that the Nazis were unable to breach their imperial land line to India along with the oil deposits through out the region. The Nazis made it almost to the Suez canal and all the way to Grozny in the Caucasus area. The Japanese had actually invaded Imphal in India along the border to Burma but the Indian army through the Nipponese out of India. The British then were secure in that area but immediately after the war when the bills piled up for Imperial defense came due slowly withdrew from one area after another. The India subcontinent became independent in 1947, Iraq itself became its own kingdom before the war, Syria gained autonomy about 1940, and Britain withdrew from the Middle East almost completely by 1960 when they gave up Kuwait.
