Thank you, my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell for sharing the music video The Gibson Brothers performing "They Called It Music" from the Gibson Brothers 2013 album "They Called It Music.
A great song for a Sunday afternoon IMHO.
They Called It Music written by Eric Gibson and Joe Newberry
Lyrics
"We went upon the mountain to hear the old man pray
And everything about him was steeped in the old time way
The sound he made was strange it was magic it was fun
When asked when it was come back when he smiled as said son
They called it music in the church house in the fields
It was honest it was simple and it helped the part time chill
It was music singing deep down in the mines
In the dark and lonesome prison cells and behind battle lines
They called it music
I practiced father’s fiddle tunes for Saturdays in town
Stayed in our heads and hearts all week looking back around
I swear the folks are with me I feel them when I sing
It wasn’t all about the money like it is today
Repeat #2
And you didn’t need read a word to memorize a hymn
Oh way down in your soul you knew the seed was sown within
There’s a power in the old songs I hope will never fade
So love like the children and don’t let ‘em get away
Repeat #2"
