Dark day and especially dark nights as VC did their best to penetrate the external defenses of air bases to remote outposts with great loss of life on their part and some operational success SP5 Mark Kuzinski.
A 13-mile defense perimeter around Saigon’s Tan Son Nhut airport is a large area to defend. It is not surprising that Viet Cong sappers tried twice to penetrate the defenses in one night.
Thankfully in this case they were unsuccessful in breaking through the perimeter defenses.
