Thanks for honoring General of the Army Douglas MacArthur who was also the only man ever to become a field marshal in the Philippine Army SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
I was a cadet at West Pint when the movie MacArthur was being filmed in the 1970's.
The entire Corps of Cadets took part in the brigade pass-in-review for the actor portraying MacArthur. The uniforms we wore were the same as he did however we marched with M-14 rifles with bayonets affixed which were the same weapons used in 1962 when he gave his famous Duty, Honor, Country speech.

Colonel Ford, I was present for the parade in 1962 that followed His farewell address to the Corp of Cadets. I was there as a Cadet at Bordentown Military Institute," Little Army " Bordentown, NJ on our annual trip to West Point. The picture here are some of our Cadets with a former BMI Cadet who in this picture was a cadet at West Point.

Parade at the United States Military Academy at West Point following General MacArthur's farewell speech to the Corp of Cadets. The General is in a dark suit standing in the rear of the jeep shown trooping the line. I was present there to see that parade but as a Cadet at Bordentown Miitary Insitute " Little Army" Bordentown, NJ on our annual visit to West Point. I remember General MacArthur when the jeep first pulled up to the area of the reviewing stand He gave a "V" for victory sign and the crowd applauded. Of Course I didn't get to see the farewell address, that was for the West Point Cadets only.

In this picture is one of My fellow BMI Cadets, Cadet SSgt Floyd Douglas Little, who was visited and taken to lunch by General Douglas MacArthur for the specific purpose of talking Him into going to West Point. Floyd Little said He would have like to go to West Point but Jim Brown who was an All American from Syracuse University and later NFL player talked Him into going there. In this picture Cadet Little's football jersey #77 was being retired with Dr. Harold Morrison Smith, President and headmaster doing the honors. The Bordentown Military Institute football team " Little Army " was undefeated untied and 8 players were all state, all private and all prep and two of those All American including Floyd Little. After Syracuse University , where He was also an All American Floyd Little went on to play for the Denver Broncos and a few years back became a member of the NFL Hall of Fame. You can certainly understand why General MacArthur would have liked Floyd Little to play for West Point.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL - As he should have- the retreat thing stained his reputation a bit, but sometimes people don't understand the big picture.
