I actually Met Paul Tibbets, Brigadier General, USAF (Ret) in person and got to talk to Him. The setting was at Hanscom AFB, MA in the Base Theater where He, His bombardier and His Navigator from the Enola Gay were all there. To hear the first hand account from the crew that dropped the first Atomic bomb ever was very interesting and Hi, To hear History up close that from three men that had such a big part in it. When their presentation and speech was over they didn't disappear, they all spent a coupe hours talking to people. including Me.

Thank you Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that February 23 is the anniversary of the birth of brigadier general in the United States Air Force Paul Warfield Tibbets Jr. who is best known as the pilot who flew the Enola Gay (named after his mother) when it dropped Little Boy, the first of two atomic bombs used in warfare, on the Japanese city of Hiroshima.
Rest in peace Paul Tibbets!

When the name Enola Gay is uttered, everyone always thinks of Tibbets' B-29. Here's a photo of his mother, Enola Gay Tibbets, who (as described above) was the namesake of his aircraft, the Enola Gay!
